Drug War 'far from over'

Monday, July 23,2018, the day when President Rodrigo Roa Duterte delivered his third State of the Nation Address. In it, he presented his achievements and outlined his priorities for this fiscal year. The President's speech didn't present the previous year's achievements but he focuses on the present and future plans. In his speech he mentioned about certain issues some of this are War on Drugs, Corruption, Contractualization, Healthcare, Bangsamoro Organic Law and Train Law.
In his speech he mentioned first about his war on illegal drugs and corruption and he opened his speech like this " About two years ago, I solemnly took my oath as a worker of the national government. I was inspired to institute real changes for the greater good of the Filipino people."He also said that the war from illegal drugs is far from over and will not be sidelined instead, it will be as relentless and chilling. Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte says he will not be stopping the war on drugs that has resulted in thousands of extrajudicial killings, saying while his critics, " Your concern is human rights, mine is human lives." This means that he chooses human lives than human rights because he wanted to change the behavior of the citizens which they are used to do which contradicts with the laws. Speaking for his annual State of the Union address at a joint session of congress, President Duterte reaffirmed his resolve to fight illegal drugs as he had during his first two years in power. President Duterte said human rights advocates should speak out against drug dealers as much as they attack him. Philippine President Duterte promised a savage drug war, the capstone of the campaign that made him the head of the government. With the year now under his belt, indeed change has come but not the kinds of changes he expected. Duterte has savaged human rights work, attacking right activists, saying drug addicts are not human so they have no rights.
Based on what I heard about the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of our president our country will progress because of the programs that he propose such as drug and criminal campaigns. The drug campaign is still more effective in reducing corruption in our country. These programs that he implements are a good help in our country's progress.
